Double Digit Run Tomorrow

Well, it's been a while since I posted about running (or anything for that matter). I hurt my knee while running the marathon back in June and it took me about 3 months before I could run again. Well, in that 3 months I gained about 10 pounds and lost most of my endurance. I tried to jump back in and run like 5 miles, but that wasn't happening. I had to start a little slower, but I'm working my way back up.

My friend Garth, from church, is back from his deployment and he's been running with me on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I go to his house on Wednesdays and run the hills. Then he comes to my house on Saturdays and we run our long run for the week before my family wakes up.

This week we're going to knock out 10 miles on our long run. We're going to run the Carlsbad Half Marathon at the end of January and then I'm considering another shot at the La Jolla Half before the San Diego Rock-n-Roll Marathon at the end of May.

Sunrise

I met my buddy Garth this morning at 5AM for a run of the hills near his house. We went 6.8 miles this morning in preparation for our upcoming marathon in January (maybe a half marathon, we're still discussing it). Anyway, a strange thing happened throughout the run. We started out in the dark, but it kept getting lighter and lighter. By the end of the run, the sun had risen just like it did yesterday.

From the way some people responded to the election results last night, you would have thought that the sun wouldn't come up today. I voted and it didn't turn out like I had hoped, but God is still in control and I put my faith completely in Him.
